
Public Welfare Initiative by Shanti Avedna Trust and ICSR in Collaboration with RRCAT. Indore, May 31, 2025 — On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, a new public health initiative was launched with the inauguration of a Special Cancer OPD at Amaltas Medical College, Dewas. This initiative has been undertaken through the joint collaboration of Shanti Avedna Trust, the Institute of Cancer and Stem Cell Research (ICSR), and the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT). The event witnessed the presence of Dr. S.S. Nayyar, Chairman of ICSR, along with key scientists from RRCAT, including Dr. KhageshwarSahu, Dr. Hemant Krishna, Dr. Khan Mohammad Khan, and Mr. Nitin Kumar, who actively participated and emphasized the importance of this initiative for society. This Special OPD is primarily dedicated to early screening, awareness, and free consultation for oral, breast, and cervical cancers. It will offer diagnostic and counseling services using advanced technologies. In the coming days, this facility will be developed into a regular OPD, benefiting both rural and urban populations. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.S. Nayyar stated, “Our goal is timely cancer detection, proper patient guidance, and taking a step forward towards a Cancer-Free India.” The event was graced by Dr. Sharad Chandra Wankhede (Vice-Chancellor, Amaltas University), Dr. Prashant (Director), Dr. Sameer Desai (Head of Psychiatry Department), Dr. Surya Pratap Singh (TB Specialist), and Dr. Shivkumar Pandey. Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoriya, Chairman of Amaltas Hospital, highlighted that this initiative is a significant step towards creating awareness about tobacco and cancer among the masses and promoting early treatment interventions.
